Dover Castle

Today we decided to go out to Dover Castle, and typically with the British weather it chucked it down just as we got to the motorway! However to our surprise it stopped as soon as we arrived in Dover. Kane loved the Wartime tunnels and was full of questions for the tour guide. He even managed to spook everyone when he said he saw a man at the end of a bunker tunnel laughing. The guide was not sure if he was making it up or not but said she was worried as no one should have been there! Kane however found this even more amusing.

Seeing Command rooms, hospitatheatre rooms and quarters in the tunnels was amazing and brought home what effort was made in winning the war. We were not allowed to take photos which was abit disappointing but it was well worth going for.

Dover Castle itself was great. Kane loved running around the grounds and seeing all the cannons, he was on the look out for Dark Knights ready to attack us. He even had the chance to have a sword fight with a Knight. We had to call him the King of the Swords!

Last night we went out for the evening, and left Kane with his grandparents . We meet up with another couple who we can now call friends and would like to thank them for some great conversion and a terrific evening.

We all went ice skating today, it was Kane's first time and he fell over alot to start with, but after a while he got the hang of it and managed a lap on his own. A bit more practice he will be great. Tina was whizzing around like a pro and i was steadily going round and trying not to fall over while the 10 year olds ran rings around me.

Friday, 13 November 2009

To day it hasn't stopped raining in sunny Kent , The weatherman says will have more rain for a lest 48hr we have already had 3 inches and the roads are flooded. I delivered to Thanet Earth today which is the biggest hydroponic farm in the UK. The glow of the artificial lights can be seen for miles.

A Big thank you

Hi Tina here, Chris's wife. I just wanted to add a Big thank you for some great emails I have received from other partners of drivers who have been kind enough to share some of their experiences with me, they have given me some guidance on how to get things started with respect of moving, flights etc.

I now don't feel like I am the only wife in the world going through it all.... and i think Chris is also relieved as my panic attacks about it all may start to whittle a little!

Once again Thank You. :)

Not much happening on the immigration front ,still waiting for my police check to come back to get a definite start date so it still just march 2010. So i was going to use the blog for driving in the UK but the work we're doing at the moment is very boring just running around Kent and not very interesting to read about. So i thought i would tell you about our family day out to the woods,Autumn is really here the colours of the trees and leafs are out of this world . Kane loves the out doors, He enjoys climbing trees and is fascinated by the wild life and the woods . After the long walk we were all hungry so we stopped at a little cafe i know for some dinner then it was off home to sleep it off ready for the excitement of Monday.

Canadian Expo

Well we went to the Expo in Hammersmith to-day,it was OK but not as big as we expected because it was Nz Oz and Canada all in one.Canada wasn't represented very well but it seemed to be the one ever-body wanted to immigrate to.We spoke to the removal company's that were there and found out that it wont be as expensive as we thought to move our stuff out to Canada. My wife Tina nearly had kittens when she found out it was going to take 8 to 10 weeks for our stuff to reach us out there. It looks as if we are all going to try and move as a family rather than me go and try to work and worry about Tina and Kane in the UK. When i get a definite start date i can start planing a recce for us to come over to secure a place to live and then we can find a school for Kane.

Wednesday, 14 October 2009

Not much has happened except H&R have offered me a job to start with them in March 2010.
I've sent off all my references and all the other paper work , just waiting for my police check to come back now. We are off to a Canada expo on Saturday in London and I hope to find out more about the schools and try to get some info on sorting out a house to rent . This will help us decide whether Tina & Kane will come out with me or whether I go on my own for three to six months?

Thursday, 17 September 2009

Well this is all very new to us, but we thought we would start this blog after seeing so many other bloggers from the UK who have managed to start a new life in Canada.

Still based in the UK my family and I wish to start a new life in Canada and have spent several months researching the in's and out's on how to start. So far we have read about 20 or more blogs, all the provinces within Canada websites, and contacted lots of companies... and still confused as ever!

We have booked tickets to a Canada Expo in Hammersmith in October and hope this will enlighten us more.

In the meantime we will be off to Newcastle on Monday for an interview with a company called H&R Transport.

We know someone who's Dad drives for them and who has a blog. He has good things to say but there have been some very negative blogs and comments about them. However we want to be able to make our own minds up and think the best way is to go for the interview and take it from there. What harm can it do?? So watch this space!!
